How It’s Different
Easy as 1, 2, 3, 4
Step1: Deep Cleansing and Exfoliation
The first step of the Hydrafacial® treatment involves a thorough cleansing and exfoliation process. Using a specialized tip, the Hydrafacial® device gently removes dead skin cells and surface impurities. This initial phase sets the foundation for a revitalized complexion, leaving your skin clean and prepared for the subsequent steps of the treatment.
Step 2: Gentle Chemical Peel
Unlike traditional chemical peels that can sometimes cause discomfort and peeling, the Hydrafacial® incorporates a gentle peel solution. This step utilizes a blend of salicylic and glycolic acids to soften and loosen deep pore debris and dead skin cells. It’s a crucial step that enhances the skin’s texture without causing the irritation typically associated with deeper peels.
Step 3: Painless Extractions
Step 4: Intense Hydration
The final stage of the Hydrafacial® focuses on deeply hydrating and nourishing the skin. A cocktail of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and peptides is delivered into the skin, providing intense hydration and promoting skin health. This step ensures your skin receives the vital nutrients it needs, leaving you with a glowing, hydrated and refreshed complexion.

Hydrafacial® vs Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a procedure using an abrasive instrument to gently sand the skin so that the thick and outer layer gets wiped off. Hydrafacial® yields results similar to microdermabrasion, so it is also referred to as a “hydrodermabrasion” or “chemical dermabrasion” facial.
Hydrafacial® makes use of a vacuum tip to deeply cleanse and remove the impurities, whereas microdermabrasion makes use of manual extractions performed through sanding.
If you would prefer more of a true microdermabrasion experience, you can upgrade your treatment to the Wet Diamond Tip.
What is the wet diamond tip and how is it used?*
The wet diamond tip is only used at medical practices such as Glendale Whole Health (vs a stand-alone aesthetician’s office). The usual blue tip for exfoliation is used for one pass along your face, neck, chest, back or other area being treated, then the tip is switched to the wet diamond microdermabrasion tip for one final pass. The wet diamond tip allows for the HydraFacial® treatment serums to pass through the tip. They have combined the suction and hydration we crave from HydraFacials with the truly scrubbed clean feeling that comes from microdermabrasion. Once fully cleansed, the final steps to extract and hydrate leave your skin GLOWING!
*There is a $20 fee to upgrade to the wet diamond tip for microdermabrasion.
Hydrafacial® vs Chemical Peels
The process of removing dead skin cells is similar for both Hydrafacial® and chemical peels. There are a variety of chemical peels for you to use, such as superficial peels, deep peels, which lead to exfoliation and peel away the skin.
Compared to chemical peels, Hydrafacial® is a much more extensive skincare treatment with an added advantage of serums on the skin. Both of these give your skin a gentle peel and exfoliate. Usually, chemical peels perform exceptionally well for every skin tone and remove dark spots, but there may be some side effects such as itching, burning and flaking. The possibility of side effects is mostly for people with very sensitive skin.
If you are nursing, pregnant, or suffer from rosacea, eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis, then you may want to avoid chemical peels but Hydrafacial® should work safely and effectively for you!
